Our Story

About Kate

With a background in economics and a corporate career in banking and finance (seems like a lifetime ago!), and then more recently working in event management, I'd always had a desire to pursue my own business. For as long as I can remember, I have had a love for plants and watching a plant grow from a seed or cutting and surrounding myself with beautiful homewares. Starting this business birthed from a coffee with a friend and a discussion to run fun creative workshops.  Fast forward six years, a global pandemic and two major floods, we are still standing and going strong.

About The Olive Branch Studio at URBAN CO-LAB

What started as a little pop up shop in late 2018 (with friend Belinda), in a converted single garage (situated between two established stores), we sold fresh botanicals, pots, baskets and some homewares.

We then moved to a bigger space in the leafy suburb of Kedron in north Brisbane, right next door to the popular cafe Coco and Grove.  The space is full of the healthiest of plants, beautiful homewares, original art, candles, jewellery, gifts AND SO MUCH MORE.  Many of our pieces are locally made and sourced.

We have established ourselves as being an inspirational store, a go to for plants and homewares that you won't find everywhere else. We pride ourselves in offering the best service (in store and after care for your plants).  Oh, and our acoustic playlist is pretty good too so you'll often hear Kate singing along.

We love gathering people together for our growing community of creative workshops. From Palette Knife Painting, Watercolour Painting, Sterling Silver Jewellery Making, Boro Stitching, Pottery and so much more, we have a lot on offer to inspire your creativity.

This online shop is an extension of our established store and even if you don't live locally you can at least experience some of what our amazing shop has to offer.
